Q1: What happens to all the Symantec group certificates (Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte) that I currently have in my account?
A: All active certificates will continue working until their expiration date. Renewals can only be performed through us through November 30, 2016.
Q2: Can I still activate newly-purchased Symantec group certificates (Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte)?
A: All newly-purchased certificates can be activated until November 30, 2016.
Q3: What happens to my certificate if I don’t activate it in time?
Beginning November 30, 2016, we are discontinuing the sale and activation of all Symantec group SSL certificates (Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte) through SSLs.com.
If you didn’t activate your SSL in time, you will be able to exchange your certificate for an identical Comodo (now Sectigo) SSL certificate for a lower price. You can also choose to receive a full refund for the unused certificate, which will be applied to your SSLs.com account and can be used for other SSL renewals.
Q4: Will I be able to reissue/download my active Symantec group certificate (Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte) after the sunset?
Yes, that will be possible through End-User Home portal, a place where all Symantec users can manage their certificates.
Q5: Why should I replace my Symantec group certificates (Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte) with another one?
A: Starting on December 1, 2016 SSLs.com will no longer allow renewals for these certificates. We suggest that you replace your current certificate with a similar one from Comodo (now Sectigo CA). Our customer support team will gladly assist you with the activation, issuance and installation of the new certificate.
Q6: Why did SSLs.com decide to stop selling Symantec group certificates (Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte)?
SSLs.com is streamlining the experience for our customers. We want to offer the best products on the market at competitive pricing.
Q7: What is going to happen with my current active Symantec group certificates (Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte) which are installed on my server?
There is no impact on active and/or installed certificates.
Q8: Will you continue to support active, installed Symantec certificates in case I have any issues?
Yes, our customer support team will gladly assist you with installation or any other issues you might have.
Q9: Will I be able to add SAN to my current active Multi-Domain certificate during the reissue?
That will be possible until November 30, 2016. After this date, there will be no possibility to add an additional SAN.
Q10: I have purchased one or more Symantec group certificates (Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte) but never activated them. Am I eligible for a refund?
For any unused certificates, you can request a refund to your bank or credit card within 90 days of purchase.
Q11: Which COMODO certificate is an equivalent to my existing Symantec one?
Equivalents to Symantec certificates will be displayed in your account panel and in your Symantec renewal email.
During the activation process, the system will automatically substitute a Comodo (now Sectigo) product that is similar to your Symantec certificate.
All Comodo (now Sectigo) certificates come at a lower price, so the difference will be credited to your SSLs.com account balance.
Q12: Do you offer discounts or coupon codes for COMODO SSLs so that I can purchase one at a lower price and check if it is as good as Symantec?
We are not offering specific discounts/coupons but all the Comodo (now Sectigo) SSL provide the same level of security but at a fraction of the cost. Replacing your expiring Symantec certificate with COMODO’s equivalent can save you up to 90% (comparing to Symantec prices).
